How we charge

Success-based

Our fee depends on the allowance actually assessed. If nothing is assessed, we earn nothing from it.

No setup fee

We charge nothing for getting started, for setting you up in the portal or for the first assessment.

Monthly fee, credited

A monthly fee keeps the process moving. It is credited against the success fee – and refunded if the application is rejected.

The comparison makes the difference visible.

What fundloop takes on – next to what is common in the market, and next to filing it yourself.

We prepare the application documents and run the process with the certification body. You are involved only at the decisive points. For the tax filing, we prepare every document you or your tax adviser will need.

The work on the documents often stays with you. Exactly where it gets technically delicate – defining the projects and justifying them to the certification body – you are partly on your own.

From defining the projects through the cost calculation to justifying them to the certification body, you take every step yourself. Research, wording and follow-up questions rest with you – as does the time all of it takes alongside day-to-day business.

Fast applicationWe keep the paceDepends on the scopeYou set the pace

We know what the certification body expects and draft it in advance. You review and approve instead of starting from scratch – the groundwork runs alongside your day-to-day business, not inside it.

How fast it moves depends on how much you have to contribute yourself. Where the provider essentially supplies a tool, your own calendar sets the pace.

The application moves forward whenever you find time between projects and client meetings. In practice that usually means it slips whenever things get busy.

A named contactAlways the same peopleVaries by providerYourself

You deal with the same people throughout – no ticketing system, no changing responsibilities. Whoever assessed your projects also answers the certification body's questions.

Anything from a dedicated contact to a support inbox. With heavily automated offerings, contact often runs through forms and changing case handlers.

You clarify questions directly with the certification body and obtain every piece of information yourself. There is no one to put the answer into context.

Justifying the funding criteriaWe take it onVaries by providerYou make the case

We assess your projects against the Frascati criteria – the internationally recognised yardstick for what counts as research and development: novel, creative, uncertain in outcome, systematic and reproducible. We then run the BSFZ portal for you.

Often self-service software: you get input forms and text modules, but the technical assessment against the Frascati criteria stays with you. In many cases you also operate the BSFZ portal yourself – from the account and the assignment through to the certification body's follow-up questions.

You build the criteria, the wording and the evidence yourself: you work your way into the Frascati framework, delimit the projects and draft the justification. On top of that you set up the BSFZ portal account, maintain the entries and answer the certification body's questions yourself.

Running the application portalWe run the portalHandled differentlyYou run the portal

Once you have assigned us in the BSFZ portal, we take it over for you – the certification body's unwieldy forms stay on our side. The points that matter we go through with you in the fundloop portal instead, and we answer the certification body's follow-up questions.

How much of the BSFZ procedure is actually taken off your hands varies widely: some providers run the portal in full, others merely supply a template for you to complete and submit yourself. It pays to read closely what the offer actually covers.

You set up the BSFZ portal account yourself, enter the application and submit it. If the certification body comes back with questions, you answer those yourself too – within the deadlines it sets.

Audit-ready documentationWe document as we goVaries by providerYou document

We record projects, hours and costs as they happen, in line with the German GoBD record-keeping principles, rather than reconstructing them at year end – with evidence showing how the figures came about. If a tax audit asks years later, the derivation is ready.

What gets captured is usually whatever the application asks for right now. Whether the cost derivation can still be followed years later depends on the provider – and on how carefully you documented alongside it.

You record which hours went to which project and how the costs add up. If questions come years later, you reassemble the derivation from calendars, spreadsheets and memory.

AI supportReads documents, answers questionsOften input formsYou retype it

AI reads receipts, documents and spreadsheets and enters the figures instead of you retyping them. If a question comes up while you work, you ask it right there in the portal and get an answer in the context of your own data. Your payroll files are never seen by the AI – they are read exclusively in your browser.

You usually enter the figures yourself; reading data out of receipts and spreadsheets is not provided everywhere. And when a question comes up, it goes to a support inbox rather than to where you are working.

You transfer figures from receipts and spreadsheets into your own list by hand. When in doubt, you research it – there is no one to ask in the context of your own data.

Common questions about cost

What does fundloop cost exactly?

A success fee on the funding as assessed: 15% up to €100,000, 12% up to €300,000, 10% above that. Plus a monthly fee of €250 to €900 depending on the tier, credited against the success fee. No setup fee. All amounts plus VAT.

What happens if no allowance is assessed?

Then we earn nothing from the success fee, and the monthly fee is refunded.

Do I pay for the first assessment?

No. The assessment is non-binding, and we charge no setup for getting started.

Are there costs for my tax advisor?

Your tax advisor bills you for their own work. No money flows between fundloop and your tax advisor.

Let's look at what is realistic in your case.

Non-binding, with your realistic funding amount on the table.
